Nagar Palika Parishad Kushinagar
Nagar Palika Parishad Kushinagar is located in Uttar Pradesh, India. The district has three municipalities, namely Padrauna, Hata, and Kushinagar, along with ten Nagar Panchayats: Sukrauli, Mathauli, Kaptanganj, Ramkola, Khadda, Chhitauni, Dudahi, Fazilnagar, Tamkuhi, and Sevarahi. Present-day Kushinagar is identified with Kusavati (during the pre-Buddhist period) and Kusinara (after the advent of Buddhism). Kusinara was the capital of the Malla kingdom, one of the sixteen Mahajanapadas of the 6th century BCE. Since then, Kushinagar remained an integral part of the successive empires of the Maurya, Shunga, Kushan, Gupta, Harsha, and Pala dynasties. During the medieval period, Kushinagar came under the rule of the Kulturi kings. Kusinara remained an inhabited city until the 12th century CE, after which it gradually faded into obscurity.
